What We Do

Population Served

POPULATION SERVED

We support our service members, whether they have recently returned, or have been home for years. Help is available for active duty military and veterans (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard, and Reservists) in addition to immediate family members of our service members (spouse or child). All services provided by PROJECT: VetRelief are at no cost to those served.

Issues

ISSUES ADDRESSED

We know that our service men and women confront major systemic issues on a daily basis – unemployment, homelessness, poverty, difficulties accessing benefits, and feelings of isolation, to name a few. We confront these problems by addressing a service member’s need in a time of crisis, working to secure benefits to get them back on track, and having an experienced support system equipped to help. This all acts to lessen the burden carried by our service men and women and to dissuade these major issues from affecting their day-to-day lives.

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE

From financial hurdles to health burdens, we are there during an emergency.

PROJECT: VetRelief supports our service members and their families with immediate financial assistance when dealing with a life emergency. By providing this temporary relief we are able to keep food on the table or the lights on while a family works through a trying time in their lives.

Benefits Support

BENEFITS SUPPORT

We ensure veterans can access and utilize all benefits earned with service.

The American Legion files thousands of VA claims each year nationwide. PROJECT: VetRelief utilizes the structure of The American Legion to pair active duty military, veterans, and their families with an educated and trained VetRelief Advocate to assess and achieve all benefits earned with service.

Community Engagement

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

We seek to eliminate isolation by creating a community of veterans helping veterans.

PROJECT: VetRelief is committed to walking with our service men and women in both times of crisis and in times of celebration. We also provide opportunities for our veterans to then take the lead, when ready, to assist the next generation of veterans.
