Other Resources

Florida is fortunate to have a strong and diverse veteran support network made up of organizations that each serve a unique role in assisting those who have served. While PROJECT VetRelief (PVR) would like to help every veteran who contacts us, our funding guidelines limit assistance to honorably discharged Florida veterans who are typically financially stable but experiencing a temporary crisis or emergency.

To ensure all veterans can access the support they need, we have compiled a list of additional service organizations throughout Florida that offer a variety of programs and assistance options, each with its own eligibility requirements and areas of focus.

County Veteran Service Officers (CVSO)

County Veteran Service Officers (CVSOs) are often the first and most important step in accessing the benefits you’ve earned. We strongly encourage veterans to schedule an appointment with their local CVSO.

CVSOs provide free assistance with federal, state, and local veterans’ benefits, help file VA claims, access medical or service records, and connect veterans to valuable resources. All counselors are trained and annually accredited by the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

Each county has its own office and hours, so please contact your local CVSO to get started.

Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF)

Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) programs in Florida are designed to assist low-income veterans and their families who are experiencing — or at risk of — homelessness.

SSVF provides rapid re-housing services for veterans who are currently homeless, as well as homelessness prevention services for those facing imminent housing loss. Assistance may include temporary financial support for rent, utilities, and moving expenses, along with individualized case management and housing stabilization services.

Through personalized support, resources, and financial assistance, SSVF helps veteran households secure stable housing and work toward long-term stability.

Other Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs)

There are many additional veteran service organizations that provide support for a wide range of needs, including emergency financial assistance, housing stability, navigation services, and community-based resources. Eligibility requirements and available services vary by program, so we encourage veterans and families to contact each organization directly for the most accurate information.
